August 201601-14 August 2016 Not much to tell for August really. We are still in Surat helping with the outloading and look like being here for a few more weeks yet despite the itchy feet to be back on the road again. The weather has been rather interesting with cold mornings and frosts through to rain and wet days followed by some nice sunny weather like we have at the moment. Most days we have been finishing around 2 or 3pm and that has been good as we then have time for other things afterwards, including time to recover. The free camp down at the river has been very popular with the travellers and has had over 50 rigs in there on many days. The caravan park where we have been staying has also been full on a number of nights so the town certainly attracts people for staying overnight or a few nights. We have shopped locally at the supermarket and have found the cost quite good, and certainly cheaper than taking the 80 km drive to Roma or the 120km's to St George which all helps our pocket and supports the town as well. 15-31 August 2016 The second half of this month has been pretty much a carbon copy of the first, the some rain slowed work down a bit but thankfully we didn't miss out on much. Some frosty mornings recently have reminded us that winter is still hanging on (just) but the clear skies and sun each day make up for the cold starts. Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will. |
